FROM THE EDITORS’ DESK

With the weather outside our office still occasionally dipping down below freezing, not to mention the snowstorms still plaguing the Midwest, it’s hard to believe the official start to spring is already behind us. And yet, the season of new growth and renewal is now upon us.

In the spirit of that season, we’re pleased to introduce some new content into our columns and features. In addition to our annual focus on independents and funding sources, we’re hosting our very first brokers’ roundtable. We’re also introducing a new regular column focused on brokers and brokerage, with the inaugural column contributed by Sheri Bancroft of Bancroft Leasing and the American Association of Commercial Finance Brokers. We also have column contributions from Kim Proctor, Steve Whelan and Bruce Kropschot and James Jackson, along with a feature article on the secondary market from Chad Hutchinson.

Finally, our new Spotlight section, which debuted in the Jan/Feb edition of the Monitor, shines the light on funding sources in this issue. The spotlight profiles provide details about the companies that are integral to the day to day operations of our industry.

Next time, we will see spring transition to early summer for our May/June issue on Vendor Leasing and Technology. See you all then!

Sincerely,

IT HAS BEEN SUCH AN HONOR TO BE INCLUDED AS GUEST EDITORS for the new and improved Monitor. As avid readers, we never contemplated the amount of planning and intentional thought put into each article to ensure that the content is fresh and relevant based on today’s environment. This issue of the Monitor is one of our favorites because of the emphasis on the independent equipment financier and lessor. It’s not all about the rankings for us, but the enjoyment we find when reading the various perspectives in the roundtables.  It’s interesting how different entities can have such different approaches and there is something that can be gleaned from each.

While the official theme of the issue isn’t about best practices, the remaining articles will provide nuggets that can be incorporated into your own business, regardless of the focus. So grab your cup of coffee, settle in and prepare to learn from some industry leaders!

Sincerely,

Tawnya Stone & Adrian Weber
